Man, we love working in the Live Oak Plantation area of Tallahassee. The homes out here often have these amazing, long wrap-around porches – perfect for kicking back. The only thing is, with our warm Florida weather, they can get pretty loaded with pollen and those pesky insects, especially during the peak seasons.
This week, we were out at a regular customer’s place. This homeowner is awesome – they actually mark their calendar every year to call us (Nick) for their annual cleaning. It’s pretty cool to have that kind of loyalty! We’ve been taking care of their whole property for a while now – the main house, the detached garage, and the driveway get a wash every year. We’ve even soft washed their shingle roof in the past.
Today’s mission, though, was all about this big, beautiful porch. It had a classic case of seasonal buildup – a nice layer of pollen and plenty of bug spots. For jobs like this, especially on painted wood or more delicate surfaces, we always go with our soft wash system. It’s low pressure, so it won’t damage anything, but the cleaning solution does the heavy lifting, breaking down all that grime and sanitizing the surface.
We find that for these big porches, an annual wash usually does the trick, but sometimes, if it’s a particularly heavy pollen season or there’s a lot of tree cover, a twice-a-year spruce-up keeps them looking their best. It really makes a difference in being able to enjoy your outdoor space.
